Robin I. Miller, MS, RN, CNS, APRN-BC

Robin Miller is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontology. She is a Clinical Educator at the University of New Mexico, College of Nursing, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She teaches on line extensively, and has been recognized by students as Outstanding Undergraduate Faculty in the College's innovative on line BSN completion program for RN's for the past two years. A strong advocate for improvement and enrichment of geriatric related education for nurses at all levels, she is currently as Chair of the Undergraduate Committee leading an effort to develop more substantive geriatrics content and experiences to help new nurses respond to the needs of our aging society. As the primary nursing faculty member of the New Mexico Geriatric Education Center, Robin works to improve geriatric care to Native American elders through education of lay, paraprofessional, and professional caregivers in Native communities. She provides consultation on issues related to quality of care for geriatric patients to families, provider organizations, and attorneys through her private practice, Spectrum Senior Solutions.

Ms. Miller is a frequent speaker at workshops and conferences throughout the Southwest. Her specific clinical interests include care of persons with dementing illnesses, adaptation of care environments and processes to the typical needs of elders, Native American aging issues, transcultural nursing, the role of spirituality in healing, interdisciplinary team work in elder care, and the use of conflict mediation and advocacy skills by nurses.

Ms. Miller holds a certificate in Advanced Mediation Skills, and serves as a volunteer conflict mediator within and outside the University community. She has recently been awarded Elder Clergy credentials by the Covenant of the Goddess, and is an active leader and clergy member in her local spiritual community.
